Host your Desktop Applications in Google Cloud Platform

Thinfinity Workspace enables you to publish your applications on any cloud platform, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Whether you're delivering VirtualUI-enabled applications or RemoteApps, Thinfinity provides a seamless and secure browser-based experience.

This article focuses on preparing your Google Cloud VM for publishing a Windows application using Thinfinity Workspace. It covers all the essential steps required to set up your Google Cloud environment before installing Thinfinity Workspace, ensuring a seamless deployment process.

Preparing Google Cloud VMs

  1. Open the Google Cloud Console, go to the Navigation Panel (1), click on Compute Engine (2), and select the VM Instances (3) option.

  2. Select a project if you already have one, or create a new one. Press Continue once the project is ready.

  3. Click on Create in the VM Instances menu.

  4. Configure the VM itself completing the essential fields:

Name: The name of the Virtual Machine.
Region: Select the geographical region closest to your users or operations to optimize performance and comply with data residency requirements.
Machine type: This will determine capacity and power of the Virtual Machine in terms of CPU and RAM.
In this example, the VM is powerless: vCPU, 3.75 GB of RAM.
Large deployments will require Virtual Machines with more capacity.
Boot Disk: Select one of the available Windows versions.

    Info
We recommend using Windows Server 2019 Datacenter.

  5. In the Firewall section, check both HTTP and HTTPS options and click the Create button.

  6. Click on the Connect drop-down menu and select the Set Windows Password option. Now create a Windows user and a password for this machine for the RDP connection.

  7. Open mstsc.msc (Remote Desktop) and connect to your VM using the External IP and the credentials you just configured. Click on LocalServer and turn on the IE Enhanced Security Configuration.

  8. Change both Administrators and Users to Off.

  9. Open the browser on the VM, download Thinfinity Wokspace, and install it directly on the same VM.
