Introduction

Thinfinity VNC is an HTML5 based solution that allows users to access their remote machines by taking full control of the Windows machine sharing their desktop. It is designed to provide the easiest and most secure remote support alternative for your end users. This setup is commonly used for remote technical support, collaboration, and system administration, allowing users to interact with a computer as if they were physically present.
The purpose of this article is to guide new users on how to create a Thinfinity VNC connection in Thinfinity Workspace. This is an essential step for establishing secure and efficient remote access to desktops and servers.

Creating a Thinfinity VNC connection from a browser

For your Thinfinity VNC connection to work, the remote host must have a Thinfinity VNC server installed and running.
If you haven't installed it yet, find the download here

Accessing and Logging In to Thinfinity Workspace Portal

  • First, open an HTML5 capable browser, navigate to the Workspace Portal and click Sign In.

  • Next, enter your Username and Password, and then click Sign In.

Creating the Profile

  • Click on +New Profile.

  • Select Desktop and click Next.

  • Here, you must choose the type of desktop connection. Select Thinfinity VNC and click Next.

  • Now, access the Thinfinity VNC Configuration on the remote host where the Thinfinity VNC server is installed and go to the Gateway Access tab. Once there, take note of the Remote ID to be used in the profile configuration. Also make sure the Network ID is the same as the one in Workspace. When finished, click Close.

  • Back to the browser, you will need to use the Remote ID just obtained from the Thinfinity VNC Server. Enter it in the appropriate fields. After that, click Next.

  • Now, you need the credentials to connect to the remote host. This password must match the one set in the Thinfinity VNC server running on the remote host. Enter the Password and click Next.

  • Type a Name for the profile and then click Done.

  • Finally, click Commit to save the changes to the profile.
You can create more profiles and commit all the changes at once when done.

Making additional configurations to the profile (optional)

  • If you want to make changes to the profile configuration, click on the more button on top of the connection icon, and then click Edit.

  • Here you can perform advanced configurations. If you make any change, click on Save and Commit the change.

Testing the VNC connection

  • Once the profile is configured, click the Connection Icon to establish a connection to the remote host.

  • You are now ready to access the remote host using Thinfinity VNC.
