How to Create a RemoteApp Pool On a Secondary Broker

Introduction

In this document, we will guide you through the process of creating a RemoteApp Pool on a Secondary Broker within Thinfinity Workspace. Thinfinity Workspace's RemoteApp functionality offers a versatile and secure way to deliver applications to users, providing benefits such as increased accessibility, reduced costs, enhanced security, and improved collaboration. These advantages make it a valuable tool for organizations looking to optimize their application delivery and remote work capabilities.


Pre-Installation Checks

You should have this in place before starting:

  • Secondary Broker installed and configured.
  • Secondary Broker is connected to the Gateway.
  • The executable file of the application to be remoted is accessible from the Secondary Broker.


Publish your RemoteApp

  1. First, open your browser and navigate to the Thinfinity Workspace Portal.
  1. Next, Sign In with your credentials.



  1. Then click on the New Profile button.




You will be prompted to choose the type of connection you want to establish.
There are four options to choose from:

  • Desktop
    Access to a remote desktop or shared screen.

  • Application
    Access to a remote app or intranet web app.

  • Web Folder
    Share a folder on this PC.

  • Terminal
    Access to a terminal or SSH terminal.

  1. For this guide, select Application and click Next.



Now we are able to create three types of connections:
  1. RemoteApp
    Provides access to an application on your PC.
  1. Web App
    Provides access to an internal or external web application.
  1. VirtualUI App
    Provides access to a VirtualUI application installed on your PC.
  1. For this guide, select Remote App and click Next.



You can create the connection to the Thinfinity Workspace Server by selecting This PC, or use the Thinfinity Workspace Server as a jump server for the remote resource by selecting Another PC.
  1. For this guide, select Another PC and include Remote Host IP in the address section.



  1. Enter the program path and file name, select the icon, and click Next.




In this step, you can select how you want to handle the credentials for accessing this resource.

  1. Credentials
    1. Use the authenticated credentials.
    1. Ask for new credentials.
    1. Use these credentials.
  1. Once you select the option you want, click Next.



  1. Enter a name for your profile, then click Done.




  1. A box will appear requesting you to Rollback or Commit the changes, click on Commit.



Now you will edit the connection you just created to point to the Secondary Broker. To do this:
  1. Click on the Three dots menu in the connection icon and then click on Edit.



  1. Now, a menu will appear on the right. Go to RDP Settings > General tab and there, add the Secondary Broker to the Broker Pool field, then click Save.



  1. After that, Commit the changes.
  1. Next, click on the connection you just created for the remote application.
You can now use your application in a browser via the RemoteApp functionality for Thinfinity Workspace.
