The Workspace Agent provides a convenient solution for establishing Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections without opening inbound ports. By using the Workspace Agent, users can securely access remote desktops without exposing their network to potential security risks associated with open ports.

Configuration

This type of configuration requires Thinfinity Workspace to be previously installed on a server and the Agent installed on the remote host. You also have to take note of the Remote ID on the remote host, because you will need it later.
To configure the RDP connection using agent mode perform the following steps on any computer with an HTML capable browser and with the appropriate Thinfinity Workspace credentials.
  • First, navigate to the Thinfinity Workspace Portal and Sign In with your username and password.

  • Next, select the New Profile button.

  • Now, click on Desktop and then click Next.

  • Select RDP to access the remote host, when finished click Next.

  • After that, select the option Another PC. Then pick Remote ID from the drop-down list and fill out the box next to it with the Remote ID.
  • When finished, click Next.

  • At this point, select your preferred authentication method for this access profile, from the drop-down list. Then click Next.

  • Now, choose a Profile Name for the connection, and then click Done.

  • Finally, you will have to save the changes you just made by clicking Commit.

Now you are set up to connect to the remote host through RDP using Agent mode.
