This document will walk you through the steps of using Thinfinity Workspace to redirect video and audio over Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connections. Enabling video and audio transmission over RDP connections is critical for delivering a complete and cooperative remote desktop experience.
For this procedure, some of the configuration must be performed only on the Remote Host, some on both, End User and Remote Host, and some on the Thinfinity Workspace Portal.
Configuration Only on the Remote Host
Prerequisites
- Open the browser, navigate to Thinfinity Workspace Portal and Sign In to your account.
Remeber that the binding used to connect to Thinfinity WorkspaceServer must be secure (HTTPS) for this setup to function properly.
- Once signed in, select the Access Profile you want to configure by clicking the three dots on the top right of the window.
- Enabling H264 in Thinfinity Workspace
H264 standard enabled is a requisite for video and audio quality critical improvement.

RDS role Setup is a requisite for video and audio redirect through Thinfinity Workspace.
Configuration on Both, End User and Remote Host
Camera and Microphone Access Setup on Windows
How to Allow Camera Access on Windows:
- Allow Camera Access on Windows at both sides (End User and Remote Computer).
- On the Search Bar type “Camera Privacy” and select Camera Privacy Settings.
- Then, on the Camera privacy settings page, Camera Access should be set to On. If it is Off, click Change and switch it to On.
- Below, do the same with the options Allow apps to access your camera and Allow desktop apps to access your camera. When finished, close the settings window.
Remember to make these changes on both computers (end user & remote host).
How to Allow Microphone Access on Windows:
Allow Microphone Access on Windows at both sides (End User and Remote Host) following these instructions:
- On the Search Bar type “Microphone Privacy” and select Microphone Privacy Settings.
- Then, on the Microphone privacy settings page, Microphone Access should be set to On. If it is Off, click Change and switch it to On.
- Below, do the same with the options Allow apps to access your microphone and Allow desktop apps to access your microphone. When finished, close the settings window.
Remember to make these changes on both computers (end user & remote host).

How to Allow Camera and Microphone Access on the Browser:
Allow Camera and Microphone Access on the browser at both sides (End User and Remote Host) following these steps:
For this guide we will use Google Chrome browser.
- Open Chrome, click the three dots on the right side of the URL bar and then click Settings.
- Once in Settings, select Privacy and security, and on the right pane select SIte settings.
- Now, select Camera.
- Here, select the webcam you will use and click on Sites can ask to use your camera option.
- Now, click again Privacy and security on the left pane. Then on the right pane, select Site settings.
- Here, click on Microphone
- Here, click on Sites can ask to use your microphone option. Then close the settings tab.
Remember to make these changes on both computers (end user & remote host).

How to Enable Remote Sound on Thinfinity Workspace
To enable remote sound follow these steps:
- Open the browser, navigate to Thinfinity Workspace Portal and Sign In to your account.
Remember that the binding used to connect to the Thinfinity Workspace Server must be Secure (HTTPS) for this setup to function properly.
- Once signed in, select the Access Profile you want to configure by clicking the three dots on the top right of the icon, then click Edit.
Remember that the protocol for the access profile must be RDP for this setup to function properly.
- Once on RDP Settings, scroll down and open the Resources tab. Then, set to On the Enable Remote Sound switch and click Save.
You must refresh the Portal for the changes to apply.
The first time you use this feature, browsers on both sides (end user and remote host) may ask for permission to use the camera and/or microphone. Once permission is granted, you will need to refresh the page for the changes to take effect.
Now you are ready to use the end user camera and microphone on the remote host.
