How to Install and Configure a Gateway and Primary Broker on Separate Computers
Overview
This document will guide you through installing and configuring both a Gateway and a Primary Broker on separate hosts.
Prerequisites
Gateway & Primary Broker Hosts:
- Windows x64 Bits Ver.: 8, 8.1, 10, 11.
- Windows Server X64 Bits Ver.: 2003/8/12/12R2/16/19/22.
- CPU 4 Cores.
- RAM 8 GB.
Installation
This type of layout requires installing the Thinfinity Workspace Gateway on one host and the Primary Broker on another host.
We will install the Gateway first and then the Primary Broker.
Gateway Installation
Follow these steps to install the Gateway:
- Obtain the latest Thinfinity Workspace installation file.
- Execute the installation file.
- Navigate through the Welcome Screen. Click Next.
- Read and accept the EULA agreement. Click Next.
- You will be presented with three installation options. For this guide, select the Reverse Gateway Only option. Then click Next.
All Components: This option is for a standalone installation. Both a Thinfinity Services and Gateway Services installation coexist on the same computer. This installation can also work together with others in a scaling and load-balancing configuration.
Broker and HTML5 Services: This option only applies if you are using a scaling and load-balancing configuration. A Thinfinity Services installation works with at least one gateway installation and one or more other Thinfinity Services installations.
Reverse Gateway Only: This option applies only if you are using a scaling and load-balancing configuration. A Gateway Services installation works together with two or more Thinfinity Services installations.
- Specify the destination folder and click Next.
- Click Install to begin the installation process.
- When complete, click Finish to exit the installation wizard.
- Now install the Primary Broker on another host using the same installation file you used for the Gateway.
Primary Broker Installation
Follow the same procedure as for the Gateway installation, but in step 5. Installation Options, select the Broker and HTML5 Services option, click Next, and continue with the remaining steps.
When installing the Gateway and Primary Broker separately, only the Primary Broker requires license registration.
When the Primary Broker installation is complete, open the Configuration Manager from the Start menu. You will be prompted to register the Thinfinity Workspace Primary Broker.
You can find more information on how to register for Thinfinity Workspace on the following links:
Configuration
After installing and registering the product, you must configure the Gateway and the Primary Broker independently.
Gateway Configuration
- Launch Thinfinity Workspace Gateway.
- In the General tab click the NetworkID button; copy or write down the NetworkID to use it with the Primary Broker.
Primary Broker Configuration
- Open Configuration Manager. Enter the same NetworkID and click Add to specify the Gateway (IP : Port).
- Then click Apply.
Conclusion
The Gateway and Primary Broker are now installed, registered, and configured. You can begin creating connections, configuring security, and other features as needed.
